HOW TO GET STARTED - This is the LONG Version of the 5 Steps in the previous "this is how it works" list. Go to the GO SBN http://gypsyowl.org/joomla/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/ and log into your account. *If you do not yet have an account at the GypsyOwl Organization website (this is not the same account as your Tree House account, because the Tree House isn't technically connected to the SBN), go here to register http://gypsyowl.org/joomla/component/option,com_registration/task,register/ You will receive an email confirmation of your registration. Follow the instructions in the email to activate your account. As soon as the upgrade is processed , you will receive an automated email stating that you have been upgraded to Author. Now create your page (see creating your member page content details tips below). Once you submit your page, I will review and publish it. After the first review, you can edit it as much as you want anytime. (Please allow 2 business days for the first publication to show up on the web site. After your first post, you can select 'edit' (when you are logged in), and changes will show up within minutes of your submission. CREATING YOUR MEMBER PAGE CONTENT DETAILS Your 'Intro Text" portion of your Member Page should be kept brief so that it will fit well into the pages that we feature it on. Some Member Pages are featured on the Home Page. You may use an image in your 'Intro Text" area as long as it is no larger than 150px x 150px (this is an approximate estimation- our Home Page area shows two into sections (two different members) side by side, so this can create a problem if your image is too large in this area. When you are creating "Main Text" portion of your Member Page content, remember that you can make it as brief or as detailed as you desire. You can create the content right in the editor screen or create html and paste it into the html screen in the editor. Images in this section should be kept no larger than 350px wide and as tall as you wish. Images can be resized by dragging the corner (hover over the image, click on it, drag the corner into the direction required to resize the image). The image editor allows for advanced settings for the advanced users. Here are some things to include, if you wish. Business Logo: You can link the image from your website images folder or use photo-bucket or another image that you have posted online. Business Information: Tell about what you do, what you make, what you sell ... etc. Promotional Information: Do you offer any specials, do you offer discounts to SBN members? Contact information: Your website address. Links: Share links to your blog, your favorite websites, your favorite charities, or any sites that you would like to share in your ad. Note: be sure to keep links updated to improve the experience of the visitor to your page. Do you have a newsletter? Remember to include a link to a newsletter opt in screen (or any page on your site that includes a place for visitors to sign up for your newsletter). If your newsletters are archived online, would you like to provide a link to them?
